New release : Chat with your friends on Google+ !

Dear Bisters,

We are really proud to launch today the Bistri / Google Gateway !

One of our promesses is : “no need to import your friends” (i.e. to video chat, or simply chat with them). From now on, it’s true ! with your existing Google account. 

When we choose Gtalk as our first gateway to connect Bistri with the rest of the World, it was several weeks before the launch of their stunning new social plateform, Google+. At this moment, no one knew what Google was building, in order to take train of the social trend, for the Xth time…

We were so lucky at Bistri, Google choosed Gtalk as their chat solution for Google+ !

Now, let’s try the gateway :

1 - Click on “Settings”, on the top right. There is a new tab called “IM accounts”

2 - You are already done !

Your friends from Google Mail, Google Talk, Google+, are now visible in your friend list, with a specific icon 

3 - Chat with them, as you talk to any Bistri user.

If you start a video call with a friend who is using Google Chat, he will receive your Bistri Link in his favorite instant messenger : one click from him, and you will enjoy the Bistri Video Chat, full of funny video effects :)

Finally, I would like to particularly congratulate :
Cyril, who had to deal by himself with this so strange programming language : Erlang :) 
Aurélien, for his so good integration in the Bistri UIs, mobile and web versions
and Raphaël, who deployed all that stuff like a charm !

Bistri launches the Bistri Mobile Web App

Hi dear bisters !

We are really proud to announce the brand new Bistri Mobile Web Application ! After hours fighting with the beta version of jQuery Mobile, we managed to get a real nice chat experience on the main mobile platforms.

On the paper, jQuery Mobile looks perfect, the new Eldorado any mobile developer could dream of… something we’ve heard so many times… you know… “With our new language/framework/thing… Develop once, runs everywhere !…” Each time you believe it, each time you are disappointed… Of course, if your need fits exactly the demo, you are the King of the World, but truth is… it’s never the case in real life.

This time, the challenge was to get the user experience as close as possible from what we used to have on the so sexy iOS native apps. Thanks to the framework we choosed, the Bistri Mobile Web App should run on these platforms : iOS, Android, Symbian, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, webOS…
